Choosing a domain name? What is so complicated about that? I just go to godaddy.com and see if it's available and pay right?
You're right. Choosing a domain name can be really simple, but if you give the process a little more thought you can really increase your ROI. Here's the reason why.
A domain name with keywords in it can really boost your rank in the search engines. For example, if the name of your company is XYZ Home Builders and you are located in Norwood, MA, you might think xyz.com would be a great domain name, right?
Wrong. Google and many other search engines rely heavilly on the keywords in your domain when ranking the search results for a given keyword phrase. So if you think your customers will search for Home Builders or Contractors you might want to use a more keyword rich domain name such as xyzhomebuilders.com or xyzcontractors. If you don't believe us, the next time you do a google search pay attention to the keywords you used and notice how the websites with those keywords in the domain name are at the top of your results.
Conclusion: It's important to really plan out your website even for something as simple as choosing a domain name.
